One Of The Mexican Traditions That Resumes In Memory And Love: All Souls’ Day

One of the mexican traditions that resumes in memory and love: All Souls’ Day

Speaking about All Souls’ Day is talking about one of the most emblematic mexican traditions.

Although we never forget our beloved ones that passed away, in the All Souls’ Day we commemorate them, along with our most beautiful moments with them.

We would love to see our beloved one where he’s at, the graveyard or the church where their ashes are but, because of the distance and the current sanitary situation, in these moments is very difficult.

Making an altar is the best way to do it in All Souls’ Day: Because not only is to place little sugar or chocolate skulls, cempasuchil flowers, pan de muerto, papel picado(paper with little cutouts), candles, etc. The tradition is to place stuff, we remember, our beloved one liked, specially food.

How is celebrated in The United States of America

In U.S.A are 3 streets where the All Souls’ Day is celebrated the best way possible:

  • San Antonio Texas: Here, the celebration in La Villita is a nocturnal procession with musicians dressed as skeletons so the dancers make traditional aztecs movements.
  • Los Angeles, California: The festivities take place at the Olvera Street, the most real possible of Mexico’s celebrations because, in most of the stands, tacos, fruits and churros are for sale. Also we have the Hollywood Forever Cemetery, the only in U.S.A that develops and official All Souls’ Day celebration.
  • Fort Lauderdale, Florida: A scary parade of the All Souls’ Day is presented: The skeletons’ procession pays tribute to cultural traditional elements.

Right now what is recommended?

This year, by recommendations of the CDC (Center for Disease Control and Prevention) we have to avoid crowds so we don’t expose to the virus, so the next is recommended:

  • Stay at home
  • Avoid assist both massive events and indoor
  • Do NOT share drinks and meals.
  • Social distancing
  • If you have people that don’t live with you, use mask.

We can also celebrate at home enjoying traditional mexican meal

If we are going to remember our beloved one that’s no longer with us, let’s do it with a very know mexican meal that, surely, enjoyed.

You can make some delicious little sopes with beans and Capistrano pork cheese marinade:
